Method or application of using speech to text softwares or voice recognition software makes dictation go straight into your computer. Many, if not all – find the method of writing or taking down notes seem a tedious task. In these day and age when words such as “quick” or instant” becomes a byword – innovative ways of tackling everyday problems, like typing large quantities of text in a relatively short period of time is but a dream.

The method or application of using speech to text softwares or voice recognition software makes dictation go straight into your computer. The primary advantage is that voice recognition software allows for faster word processing.

People with disabilities can benefit from speech recognition programs. For individuals that are deaf or hard of hearing, speech recognition software is used to automatically generate a closed-captioning of conversations such as discussions in conference rooms, classroom lectures, or religious services.

One of the most notable industry for speech recognition in the United States has been health care and in particular the work of a medical transcriptionist (MT), changed the ways physicians worked and documented clinical encounters.

Speech recognition programs are capable of producing transcripts of audio recordings that vary in quality, but are never as adequate as the output of proficient human transciptionist.

Because the software is a growing technology used increasingly more often, there is still a certain need for modification and formatting on the text rendered by speech recognition software in order to perfect its accuracy. In these instances human judgment takes place – the editor.

There is still a along way to go, workers in the field must have excellent hearing, superior command of the language in use and complex terminology, above average typing skills, sound knowledge of word processing and significant experience with computers.
