What's Trending in Outsourcing

As the year 2011 comes to an end, you are wondering on what are the upcoming trends in the world of outsourcing.  Here are the outsourcing trends of 2012:  Want to stay up-to-date in the ever-changing world of outsourcing? As cited by the October issue of Globalization today, the official magazine for the International Association of Outsourcing Professionals (IAOP), mass automation, cloudsourcing and the likes, keeps you ahead among the rest. Keep these trending tips in mind, they just may be your ticket to outsourcing.

Progressive Outsourcing

According to industry watchers, smaller IT services deals are all the rage now, and many of them are first-time buyers who were not as active in the past year. The idea is providers should push such customers to grow out a healthy relationship with them overtime – referred to as the old “penetrate and radiate” approach.

Pouring more into savings

Due to the slowing of economy everywhere, IT leaders should check if their existing outsourcing arrangements can be tweaked in order to save a few, if not a lot, of bucks. IT services customers could change arrangements within their original contracts with the thought towards under-delivery or over-payment. They could also reconsider replacing contractors from big-time sourcing providers with local IT professionals.

Outsourcing + Cloudsourcing = Will it work?

A hot topic in the IT industry is the talk of cloud-based offerings from IT service providers. According to Ben Trowbridge, CEO of outsourcing consultancy Alsbridge, “The two markets will merge and cloud sourcing will drive the rebirth of outsourcing. (Cloud users such as Amazon, Google (Goog), and Rackspace are hard competition for traditional service providers like IBM and HP (HPQ).) According to Trowbridge, an executive of one of the low current cost leaders said they need to remain profitable while seeing the price of some of their services go to as low as 70 percent in order to survive the battle between them and the clouds. The solution: to look for mergers and acquisitions as legacy providers fumble their way forward. Customers also need help stitching together old and new.
